- ➤ Lions Club volunteers supported the Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 17 by setting up a climbing wall, bounce house, and card-writing station for kids and patients at AG Rhoades facilities. Barry Krebs shared photos and thanked Chick-Fil-A for hosting the event. Cobb County Courier
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ A satellite equipped with Space Armor from local Atomic6 aerospace lab will launch aboard a Starship this fall from Vandenberg Space Force Base — the invention is designed to stop fast space debris and protect satellites. WSB-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Local students earned academic honors for fall 2025. Marietta students such as Luke Cox were named to Dean's and President's lists at colleges including Elmhurst University, the University of Evansville, and James Madison University. Marietta Daily Journal
- ➤ Doug Jones, a KSU Foundation trustee, and his wife Anna have donated $100,000 to create an MBA scholarship for non-business undergrads at Michael J. Coles College of Business in Cobb County—its first award will come in the fall while the couple plans to meet the recipients. Cobb County Courier

- ➤ Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed Monday, Jan. 19 — government offices close and many service projects are planned in Cobb to honor his legacy. Residents can look forward to volunteer opportunities across the county. Marietta Daily Journal

- ➤ A Wellstar physician advises Marietta residents to take winter safety measures by clearing walkways with (salt, sand, or kitty litter) and wearing boots with grip (rubber or neoprene) to reduce fall risk as icy conditions persist. Cobb County Courier
- ➤ A new all-women boutique studio, LuLu Belle, now offers small-group fitness classes in the local neighborhood. Owner Shelly Thomas says movement is a gift that helps residents stay active (and strong) for everyday tasks. Cobb County Courier
