  • Today, Marietta Square hosts a relaxed evening outing and the Marietta History Center's 30th anniversary exhibit at its historic Kennesaw House. On Saturday, a screening of The Breakfast Club at the Strand begins at 8:00 p.m. — Sunday offers art exhibits plus brunch with free or low-cost entry at venues.  Cobb County Courier
  • Nema, a 2-year-old female blue merle/brown Catahoula leopard dog, is available for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta. Walk-ins are welcome or you can book an appointment to see her at 1060 Al Bishop Drive.  Cobb County Courier
  • Cobb County Police encountered a stubborn turkey (Henry) blocking traffic on Milford Church Road Wednesday. Officers captured a humorous bodycam video showing the bird resisting their attempts to move it.  11Alive

  • The Cobb Chamber celebrated milestones on Feb. 27 at the Cobb Convention Center in Atlanta — handing out awards and reporting membership gains including $1.2 million raised and 330 new members.   • Yamaha Motor Corporation announced it will relocate its U.S. headquarters from California to Cobb County (Kennesaw) in the coming weeks, a move expected to boost local business potential.  Marietta Daily Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Metro Atlanta and North Georgia host concerts, theater shows, and festivals this weekend, with events scheduled between March 6 and March 8. Marietta residents can join Marietta the Gathering on March 7 at Glover Park for a celebration of Greek culture and artisan vendors.  Fox 5 Atlanta

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices have risen at local stations due to supply shortages caused by the conflict in the Middle East; market expert Patrick De Haan said Atlanta prices surged 41 cents per gallon since last week and may soon level off.  11Alive
  • A survey conducted online by Talker Research from Dec. 17, 2025 to Jan. 5 found that 43% of Georgia residents consider the state affordable, ranking it 23rd among states; rising costs for housing, food & energy are prompting some to consider relocating.  WSB-TV

  • Cobb Public Library has compiled a reading list to celebrate Women's History Month with titles spanning picture books, nonfiction and chapter books + readers can view these selections in the library catalog.  Cobb County Courier
  • Rep Tangie Herring has introduced House Bill 1045 – the You Are Not Alone Awareness Act – to require public schools to print the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline on student IDs for grades six through twelve. The bill, prompted by two recent student deaths in central Georgia, passed the House and now heads to the Senate.  11Alive
