COMMUNITY NEWS

  • On March 3, community leaders celebrated the opening of two Little Free Libraries at Victory Park and Kirby Park. Marietta officials and education advocates gathered to boost early literacy and expand neighborhood access to books & help build stronger reading skills.  Cobb County Courier
  • Local pastor Bryant Wright & his wife returned safely after a five-day ordeal in Israel during the recent conflict. He reflected on the relief of reaching home and will soon resume his duties at Right from the Heart Ministries.  WSB-TV
  • The Cobb County Courier’s Dog of the Day features a 10-month-old female tiger brindle/white American pit bull terrier available for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta. Visitors can schedule an appointment plus walk in to see her at 1060 Al Bishop Drive.  Cobb County Courier
  • Elliot, a 2-year-old neutered male grey/white domestic short hair, is ready for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services (1060 Al Bishop Drive) in Marietta today. Pet visits are easier with an appointment, though walk-ins are welcome.  Cobb County Courier

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Yamaha Motor Corp. announced that it will move its U.S. headquarters from Cypress, California to Kennesaw in late 2026 as part of a plan to consolidate its corporate functions + financial services. The company also plans to sell its 25.1-acre California site.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • Merlin Labs completed its preliminary design review for the C-130J autonomy program at the local Lockheed Martin facility in Marietta + the project will soon enter system integration, ground testing, and flight demonstrations under its contract with USSOCOM.  Cobb County Courier
  • StillFire Brewing will open its 25,000+sqft brewery and taproom in Smyrna next week; the long-awaited venue broke ground in Sept. 2023 and is set to host an opening celebration.  Marietta Daily Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • On March 12, families in Marietta will enjoy a festive St. Patrick's Day celebration at Avenue East Cobb that includes live music, Irish dance by the Drake School, a bounce house, live llamas, and face painting.  Fox 5 Atlanta

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Georgia are rising as the statewide average reaches 3.18 per gallon, driven by global fuel pressures (a trend noted since last week). Analysts warn that ongoing supply concerns and seasonal demand may push prices further.  Fox 5 Atlanta

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County plan spring events where residents can learn gardening tips and volunteer. Event dates and locations will be announced soon + stay tuned for updates.  Marietta Daily Journal
  • Kennesaw State University has partnered with nonprofit OneGoal (serving 17 high schools) to expand college pathways for 1,500 high school students in metro Atlanta. The program will provide extra advising and support to help students succeed in college.  Cobb County Courier

  • Cobb County’s 2026 homeless count recorded 448 people staying in camps and temporary shelters (157 living outdoors and nearly 300 in emergency shelters), officials said.  Marietta Daily Journal
