  • A 10-year-old male black cat was selected as Cobb County Courier’s Cat of the Day at the Marietta shelter. People wishing to adopt can book an appointment online or walk in—shelter staff at 1060 Al Bishop Drive will assist visitors.  Cobb County Courier
  • Nearly 400 community members participated in the fourth annual Noonday Shanty 5K/10K on Saturday, March 22nd along the Noonday Creek Trail in a race presented by Avonlea Apartments to benefit the Town Center Community Alliance. Overall winners were Marie Reed (Acworth) at 25:07 and Andrew Yankowsky (Marietta) at 18:07 for the 5K and Micah Weathers (Statham) at 39:11 and Kevin Rymut (Atlanta) at 37:45 for the 10K.  Cobb County Courier

  • Tyler Perry announced on Thursday a filmmaking program—designed for emerging directors—that will award five filmmakers $30,000 to shoot a short film in Atlanta. Applications will be accepted from April 17 through May 1.  11Alive
  • Brian Benefield writes in his latest column to remind Marietta residents to put down their phones and enjoy Georgia’s spring by exploring local parks and trails.   • KSU assistant professor Chinomso Nwozichi was honored by the Oncology Nursing Foundation with the Connie Henke Yarbro Excellence in Cancer Nursing Mentorship Award and will receive it at the foundation's April reception.
