  • The Kiwanis Club of Greater South Cobb will join the fifth annual Welcome to South Cobb Festival to promote literacy in K-12 schools by hosting an Easter Egg hunt and holding a drawing for 20 ThinkPad laptops. The festival will offer free activities including wellness experts, recycling demonstrations, and musical performances & community leaders plan to boost local education & support a healthier environment.  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • A man was shot overnight after a fight at a Citgo gas station ATM off Franklin Gateway in Marietta—police said the altercation escalated into gunfire and one man fled before officers arrived as investigators review surveillance footage to identify the suspect.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • Police arrested Lashawn Crumble, a 32-year-old delivery driver for OnTrac, on Friday after a broken tail light led officers to search her car—smelling marijuana, they found nearly 50 stolen packages and are now working to return them to the victims.  WSB-TV
  • Acworth Police arrested a 17-year-old student at North Cobb Christian School after a Snapchat post threatened a school shooting on Monday—officers arrived shortly before 10:30 a.m., arrested her by 10:50 a.m., and she is held without bond while facing a felony terroristic threat charge as the campus was locked down.  Cobb County Courier
  • Daniel Scott Trapp, 35, from Cartersville, was charged with stealing property from the Cobb County Fire Department at Station 4 on March 1 at 3:43 a.m.  Marietta Daily Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Marietta’s Georgia Symphony Orchestra will perform a sensory-friendly show of Peter and the Wolf with narration by Amy Parrish and a live presentation of St. Paul’s Suite at Wheeler High School on Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. A second family-friendly concert will follow at 4 p.m. with a quiet room for guests + tickets cost $10 each.  Cobb County Courier

  • Fourteen high school seniors from Cobb County were named 2025 Georgia Scholars, recognizing their academic achievements.  Marietta Daily Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Georgia lawmakers in the proposed budget ask the Department of Human Services to submit a plan by June 1 to fix a backlog of many SNAP and Medicaid cases—some of which are overdue. They also plan a $3,000 pay raise for caseworkers to help manage heavy workloads.  11Alive
