  • Reed is a two-year-old white and brown basset hound weighing 21 lbs available for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services (Animal ID 8958) in Marietta. The shelter at 1060 Al Bishop Drive prefers scheduled appointments (walk-ins are welcome when available) to better manage pet visits.  Cobb County Courier
  • A free pet microchipping event on April 7 was held at South Cobb Recreation Center where many pet owners lined up to get their pets chipped. Commissioner Monique Sheffield thanked the Animal Control staff for caring for the animals and offering pet adoptions.  Cobb County Courier
  • Marietta’s Cobb County Animal Services has Yarkona—a 3-year-old female tortoiseshell cat weighing 10 lbs—ready for adoption. The shelter accepts both appointments and walk-ins, and its online booking service is available 24/7 at its location on Al Bishop Drive.  Cobb County Courier
  • Spectators packed into Jim R. Miller Park on Friday and Saturday to watch classic rodeo competitions at the first Cobb County Pro Rodeo in Marietta.  Marietta Daily Journal

  • Cobb County issued licenses for 63 new businesses in unincorporated areas for the week ending April 4, 2025. The list covers a range of sectors — from office rentals to retail — and does not include licenses from individual cities.  Cobb County Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Krimson Community Foundation honored 19 graduates of its mentorship program for young men in grades four through twelve during the Diamond Beautillion ceremony in Marietta—graduates who gained leadership and STEM skills and now plan to pursue careers in film, medicine and other fields.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 5th, Georgia lawmakers abruptly ended their session by adjourning the Senate early around 9 p.m., leaving several key bills unfinished and Capitol staff surprised—later the House passed a new budget boosting funds for schools and prisons and approved a bipartisan measure to hold out-of-state landlords accountable.  Cobb County Courier
  • A memorial service for Robert Storey, chief of the Cobb County School District Police Department, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 9 at Burnt Hickory Baptist Church, 5145 Due West Rd., Powder Springs—he died last Thursday.
