  • The Cobb County Public Library announced the CCPL Perks Program on April 9, offering library cardholders a 10% discount at select Marietta Square businesses — the pilot initiative will later expand across the county.  Cobb County Courier
  • The YMCA of Metro Atlanta will host its 62nd Annual Good Friday Breakfast on Friday, April 18 from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. at Cobb Galleria Centre—where Gas South President Kevin Greiner will receive the Bransby Christian Leadership Award for his longtime support of the community.  Cobb County Courier
  • Paces Mill Park, a popular part of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, will reopen in May after finishing its first round of improvements.  Marietta Daily Journal

  • Marietta police questioned eight people after a shooting on Wednesday night at Lakeside at Town Center Apartment Homes at 425 Williams Drive and chased a black BMW that sped away and crashed at Polk Street and Mountain View Road—inside the wrecked car officers found multiple handguns and a rifle while two people with gunshot wounds were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.  WSB-TV
  • Christopher White of Jonesboro and Jeffrey Lynn West of Riverdale were accused of conspiring to steal motor vehicles from Day’s Chevrolet at 3693 Cobb Parkway NW in Acworth on Jan. 20.  Marietta Daily Journal

  • A new mural now welcomes visitors to the Cobb County Family Justice Center in Marietta, adding vibrant color to the facility.  11Alive
  • The Cobb County Department of Transportation is proposing to eliminate the Green Circulator — a free bus loop that serves stops throughout the Cumberland area near The Battery.  11Alive

HEALTH NEWS

  • Highland Rivers Behavioral Health bought a nearly $1.7 million Cobb County building in Austell to house its Mothers Making A Change program, which helps low-income women with substance use disorders and their children. The agency will soon begin renovations to create a 25-bed treatment center—this comes after a state investigation found poor conditions and inadequate care that contributed to a woman's death in 2022.  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
