  • Marietta’s Cobb County Animal Services Shelter has a neutered male grey tabby/white domestic short hair named Quasar available for adoption; he is 2 years old and weighs 7 lbs. The shelter now prefers that prospective pet owners schedule an appointment online while walk-ins are still welcome (located at 1060 Al Bishop Drive).  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • Marietta police said an 18-year-old was shot Saturday night during a juvenile altercation and is recovering from non-life-threatening wounds.  Marietta Daily Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wellstar Health System honored 13 seniors at Cobb Innovation and Technology Academy this week—students completed the system's inaugural internship program that provided hands-on healthcare experience to prepare them for jobs in the field.  Marietta Daily Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lockheed Martin Skunk Works and the Royal Netherlands Air Force completed the first-ever live classified data transfer outside the United States using an F-35 during the Ramstein Flag Multi-Domain Operations exercise. The test showed that live targeting information is shared quickly — and the Marietta facility has been a key employer in Cobb County since 1951.  Cobb County Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Georgia public health officials contained an outbreak of three measles cases in unvaccinated children by tracing 290 close contacts and vaccinating 21 people after a case on January 24 + state vaccination rates remain below the 95% level needed to prevent future outbreaks.  Cobb County Courier
  • The Georgia Department of Public Health released health inspection scores for Cobb County restaurants and food service facilities from April 11th to April 17th. Scores ranged from 82 to 100 (covering schools, hotels and dining venues), which show the range of compliance for the week.  Cobb County Courier
