CRIME NEWS

  • Marietta police searched for a suspect on foot after a shooting at about 1:24 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of North Marietta Parkway and Allgood Road where two people were injured and taken to Wellstar Kennestone and the Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening wounds—authorities are investigating the incident.  WSB-TV
  • Marietta Police said two people were hospitalized after a shooting near North Marietta Parkway and Allgood Road on Monday afternoon+ one was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and the other to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta while detectives collect evidence.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • Marietta police responded at about 3:45 a.m. Monday after a CSX train hit an abandoned black Honda Civic on the tracks near South Marietta Parkway and Waverly Way, and they arrested 22-year-old Miguel Villasenor for illegal stop/stand/park and DUI after finding him walking near Whitlock and Wright Street—CSX reopened the railway within an hour.  WSB-TV

  • Gov Kemp signed sweeping tort reform bills on Monday afternoon at the State Capitol—bills designed to curb lawsuits and reduce large verdicts. The bills passed with strong Senate and bipartisan House support—critics worry the measures may limit justice for abuse victims.  Fox 5 Atlanta
