- ➤ Copper, a neutered male white/brown terrier from Cobb County Animal Services Shelter in Marietta, is the Dog of the Day noted for his 7-month age and 30-pound build. The shelter now prefers appointments (walk-ins are also accepted) to better manage pet visits. Cobb County Courier
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Lily Biscan, an assistant trainer at DC Stable LLC in Blue Ridge, was kicked in the head by a horse last week and suffered a severe concussion, compressed skull fracture, busted eardrum, and some hearing loss—she was flown to Erlanger Trauma Center in Chattanooga and moved out of the ICU on Easter to continue her recovery at home with her family. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Cobb Department of Transportation and the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority announced that sections of Stilesboro Road will close beginning May 6 for water line work—drivers in Marietta should follow posted detour signs. Local motorists are advised to allow extra travel time during the closure. Marietta Daily Journal
- ➤ Stilesboro Road near Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park will close on May 6 for work on an underground water pipeline. The closure will happen in three phases—first from Gilbert Road to Old Mountain Road, then from Old Mountain Road to the visitor center drive in early August, and finally from Old 41 Highway to the visitor center drive in late September.
