ECONOMY NEWS

  • Georgia gas prices dipped slightly to $4.00 per gallon for regular unleaded in Cobb County, but AAA warns prices remain high with Memorial Day travel approaching - drivers are urged to plan routes ahead to save money.  Cobb County Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cobb County Police Department joined with Chattahoochee Tech to create a pathway for Public Safety Technology students to earn college credits by taking most classes at the tech school and the rest at the academy. The program, which also helps current officers secure credit for POST courses, will launch this fall.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • Marietta High School’s Class of 2026 (570 students) earned over $5.3 million in scholarships ahead of graduation this Thursday.  Marietta Daily Journal
  • At Primrose School of East Cobb, preschoolers surprised teacher Rachel Smythe when she was named the school’s first Early Educator of the Year — a special honor that recognizes her dedication to early learning.  Marietta Daily Journal
  • The Walker School quiz bowl team won the Aiken Fall Steeplechase contest in Marietta and will compete in a national championship tournament. The event will showcase local talent on a larger stage + more details will follow.  Marietta Daily Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Cobb County Water System reported two sewage overflows today — officials are monitoring conditions and investigating the cause to ensure public safety.  Marietta Daily Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • I-285 reopened Monday morning after a weekend shutdown as Doug Turnbull reported that traffic flowed freely along the highway.  11Alive

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cobb Travel & Tourism and Smyrna will host an official global soccer world record attempt on June 6. Soccer fans from metro Atlanta can join the event to help set a new record in an exciting sports challenge.  Marietta Daily Journal
