  • Waffle House workers in Marietta went on a three-day strike last Friday to protest unsafe conditions, delayed raises, and mandatory meal deductions—organizing a rally on Windy Hill Road and handing in a formal strike notice. ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA’s report showed that gasoline prices in Georgia rose four cents last week to average $2.92 per gallon for regular unleaded, with Cobb County rates about three cents higher + rising crude oil costs and higher demand pushing prices up ahead of Memorial Day weekend.  Cobb County Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cobb County will change its website address on June 2 from an unusual .org domain to a new (.gov) domain that boosts security and public trust. For a short time, the old address will still work before it is turned off.  Cobb County Courier
  • A viral online post claimed that Georgia workers with reduced hours can apply for unemployment benefits even if they are still employed. The Georgia Department of Labor said anyone may apply but benefits depend on each case’s wage reporting + eligibility factors such as earnings deductions over the first $50.  11Alive
