  • AAA warns that rising fuel prices may push some travelers to shorten trips, delay plans or stay closer to home during Memorial Day weekend, even as record numbers hit the roads. Marietta residents planning to drive should check their vehicles before heading out.  WSB-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cobb County School District is revising its student code of conduct to meet state cellphone rules and address classroom disruptions soon. The update will affect schools in Marietta (and other district campuses) as the district prepares for implementation.  Marietta Daily Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Weather Service forecasts scattered thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain from today through Saturday in north and central Georgia — though severe weather is not expected.  Cobb County Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Cobb County DOT updated the public on active road and lane closures on routes like Waterfront, Canton, and Due West Roads due to ongoing construction until specified end dates (for example, Canton Road will have a one-direction closure until Nov. 9).
