  • Raksha, Inc. lost a $700,000 federal grant—jeopardizing its work to provide counseling, legal aid and food to South Asian survivors of domestic violence. The nonprofit, which has helped the community for nearly 30 years, said its funding woes may lead to further cuts in support.  11Alive

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Fourteen people died in traffic crashes across several counties during the Memorial Day weekend—authorities reported over 390 crashes with 189 injuries from May 23 to May 26.  WSB-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Rachel Ernestine Ward, a caregiver from Cobb County, was arrested in Marietta after a man was found dead early Wednesday morning and police allege she deprived him of necessary sustenance for over six years—she now faces a felony neglect charge and remains in jail without bond.  The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fewer trash hauler complaints have been reported since last year; only one complaint was logged through CobbTrashHelp.com in 2025 compared to five in 2024, county officials said at Tuesday’s work session. American Disposal Services also saw daily calls drop from about 1,000 to 250 and has not missed any routes for more than seven months — a change attributed to new management and increased competition.  Cobb County Courier
