CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Rodrell Maurice Williams, 38, of Acworth, is accused of starting a fire using a lighter in Holding Cell 9 at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center on May 24. Marietta Daily Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Fourteen Cobb County students have received college-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation—recognizing their academic achievements. The awards will support their college plans and honor their hard work. Marietta Daily Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Cobb Planning Commission recommended approval for a new 300-unit apartment complex at 3200 S. Cobb Parkway in Cumberland despite school officials warning that Teasley Elementary is over capacity—approval is subject to conditions like emergency-only access off Cobb Parkway and preserving the tree line. The proposal now goes to the Cobb County Commission for a decision on June 17. Cobb County Courier
