  • A family at Five7Five Riverside apartments in Mableton keeps a machete by the door and a baseball bat next to the bed to fight raccoons that have infested their ceiling since 2023 — a pest control company caught one raccoon and Code Enforcement will meet with the property manager next Wednesday to address the problem.  WSB-TV
  • Midas is a two-year-old tri-color hound weighing 54 lbs from Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta and is available for adoption—appointments are preferred for pet visits though walk-ins are accepted.  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • Marietta police arrested five individuals—including two juveniles—in connection with two gang-related shootings over Easter weekend that wounded three people on Natchez Trace and near North Marietta Parkway and Allgood Road, and they said the violence was linked to a feud between local neighborhood gangs as the investigation continues.  Fox 5 Atlanta

  • Cheryl Preheim reports that high demand for sheet metal workers in Georgia is rising—local apprenticeships are opening pathways to high-paying jobs.  11Alive
  • Residents in Marietta will face a 3.5% increase in their water bill starting next month when rates go up on July 1—an average rise of about $1.25 per month per household. Marietta Water said that rising wholesale wastewater treatment and regulatory costs from the Cobb County Water System are driving the change.  WSB-TV
