ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Cobb County police are investigating a serious collision in Marietta — a 12-year-old boy was hit by a van and is now in the hospital with serious injuries.  Fox 5 Atlanta

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday night, June 24, a shooting at the Bixby Apartments on George Busbee Parkway in the Kennesaw area left one person dead and one injured when a 22-year-old suspect returned during an argument and fired multiple shots—Cobb County Police reported he faces charges of felony murder and aggravated assault.  Cobb County Courier
  • Marietta police are investigating whether separate fires at two used car dealerships broke out early Tuesday morning—possibly set intentionally.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • Marietta police linked a 17-year-old suspect to two gang-related shootings—one on April 19 near Powder Springs Street where four people were shot, including a critically injured teenager, and another two days later on Allgood Road where two teens were wounded—investigations remain ongoing.  Cobb County Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • South Cobb Regional Library will host many summer events including Museum Days for kids on July 8th and July 22nd, a Great Oreo Taste Test for teens and tweens on July 3rd, and a panel exhibit on U.S. immigration history running until July 25th—these events add learning and community fun. The library will also offer free breakfast and lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while closing on July 4th for Independence Day.  Cobb County Courier

HEALTH NEWS

  • Wellstar Health System filed a Certificate of Need with the state for a new $1 billion 230 bed hospital in Acworth to serve over 340,000 area residents. The eight story facility will include 70 emergency department bays and eight operating rooms — it will create over 1,500 jobs and ease the load at the current Kennestone Regional Medical Center.  WSB-TV
