- ➤ Marietta authorities are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for tips on Monday night's arson at two used car dealerships on Cobb Parkway—damage to vehicles occurred without injuries and investigators are looking for the suspect seen near both sites. Fox 5 Atlanta
- ➤ Marietta police arrested Terence Boone outside Dobbins Air Reserve Base around midnight on June 4 when airmen detained him after finding him under the influence with multiple weapons and bags of narcotics in his car—he now faces charges for methamphetamine trafficking, possession of cocaine and marijuana, and firearm offenses. - ➤ Across metro Atlanta and North Georgia, many Fourth of July events will be held in 2025—featuring parades, live music and fireworks. In Marietta, Fourth in the Park at Marietta Square will include a parade, arts and crafts, concerts and a kids' zone on July 4. Fox 5 Atlanta
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cobb County is launching a new paramedic training school at Cobb Fire’s Training Center after county commissioners approved the program Tuesday night—this joint effort with MetroAtlanta Ambulance Service will help fill a shortage of advanced emergency responders. The course, which costs $650 compared to $6,500 elsewhere, will enroll Cobb firefighters first and later allow other municipal personnel when space permits. Fox 5 Atlanta
- ➤ The Marietta Fire Department received two new fire trucks with advanced technology and 32 sets of upgraded gear after labor and material shortages delayed their delivery; the trucks arrived in early June — and they will start service in July to replace a third of the fleet. WSB-TV
