CRIME NEWS

  • Christian Waddell, 27, was arrested for animal cruelty after he left two dogs in a car at Six Flags White Water on July 5—temperatures reached 140 degrees—and police rescued the animals before handing them over to county animal control.  Fox 5 Atlanta

CULTURE NEWS

  • Paul McCartney, the music legend and former Beatle, will perform two nights at State Farm Arena on November 2 and November 3. Tickets go on sale July 18 at 10 a.m.—this marks his return to Atlanta since his 2014 show.  WSB-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Childcare costs have risen in Georgia, forcing parents like Lily Ligon to keep children at home as high fees take a large share of their paychecks. Sharon Foster from Bells Ferry Learning Center in Marietta said providers are battling rising expenses— a Bankrate study shows some states see families spending up to 20% of their income on care.  WSB-TV

  • Cobb County officials say preparations for the July 15 MLB All-Star Game at Truist Park are nearly complete to ensure a safe and smooth experience for tens of thousands of fans — local, state, and federal agencies are coordinating to boost law enforcement, adjust traffic signals, and provide medical support. They held 12 planning meetings, increased public safety measures, and urged visitors to stay hydrated in the mid-July heat — officials stress following safety guidelines during the event.  Cobb County Courier

  • A female white American pit bull terrier named STAR is available for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services shelter in Marietta—she is 1 year-old and weighs 48 lbs. Interested pet parents should schedule an appointment for a visit as walk-ins are also welcome.  Cobb County Courier

SPORTS NEWS

  • MLB All-Star Game will return next week at Truist Park after MLB reversed its decision from four years ago when the game was pulled due to a controversial election law. Gov.
