KIDS CARE, a Marietta nonprofit, and the Cobb County Police Department are hosting the 5th Annual 'Backing the Need' Backpack and School Supply Drive—which collects new backpacks and supplies at local drop off points until July 19 to support students in need.

Cobb Police arrested a 23-year-old Austell man—charged with murder, aggravated assault, firearm possession during a crime, and multiple counts of armed robbery—in connection with the July 4 homicide of Cody Chavous at an apartment on Concepts 21 Circle; he was booked into Cobb County jail.

Capital One All-Star Village opened on Saturday at Cobb Galleria Centre with fun activities tied to the MLB All-Star Game, featuring interactive batting cages, Q&A panels, and team mascot appearances (including autograph sessions).

On Saturday, July 12, Atlanta stars including Jermaine Dupri + Javy Lopez played in the MLB All-Star Celebrity Softball Game at Truist Park, where the American League team beat the National League team 17 to 15 in five innings.

At Truist Park on Saturday, baseball prospects played in the 26th All-Star Futures Game featuring 16 first-round picks with nine from the 2024 draft—local Charlie Condon, a former Georgia Bulldog drafted third overall, said playing in his first professional game was very special.
