- ➤ Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta is featuring Freddie, a three month old white/tan beagle who is available for adoption. The shelter asks visitors to call ahead before visiting—appointments are preferred—and welcomes walk-ins if no appointment is scheduled. Cobb County Courier
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ An invasive insect from Asia—the spotted lanternfly—was first seen in Fulton County last fall and is now spreading into Georgia; it feeds on over 70 plant species and could harm local agriculture. 11Alive
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Georgia DOT and Cobb DOT are seeking public input on replacing the Bells Ferry Road bridge over Noonday Creek in the Town Center area. The project will replace the old span built in 1959 with a three lane bridge—adding sidewalks and improved access to the Noonday Creek trail—with comments open until July 25th. Cobb County Courier
- ➤ The Cobb County Board of Education will consider a policy change today that would stop live broadcast of public comments during board meetings. The revision removes 'broadcast live' from the guidelines and replaces it with a clause stating that speakers may be filmed by the district—reducing transparency for remote viewers—while also altering ban rules for disruptive speakers.
