On Saturday, a few dozen volunteers gathered off Roswell Street to assemble flags for the Kiwanis Club’s upcoming Field of Flags project — a sign of local support as preparations continue.

Alley Stage, a popular comedy club off Marietta Square, will launch its first comedy classes in August.

The classes will give locals a chance to learn stand-up techniques (registration details to be announced).

Between July 12 and 19, 2026, Cobb County issued 38 new business licenses covering restaurants + healthcare providers + contractors and other services.

Several licenses were granted to local establishments in Marietta and surrounding areas.

More than 200 girls attended a free basketball clinic at Marietta Middle School on Saturday morning; coaches provided drills + practical tips to improve skills.

The event introduced young players to basketball in a supportive local setting.
