  • Michelle Spivey (a long-time vendor of Spivey Southern Grill) said she loves the North Georgia State Fair and will return to Marietta in September, praising the friendly crowds and the organizers for their help. The fair (held at Jim R. Miller Park from Sept 18 to 28) is expected to draw over 300,000 visitors with rides, food, and family fun.  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • A Marietta man, 49-year-old Carl Delano Torjagbo, was convicted of bank fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering after he used a $9.6 million PPP loan + a $3.4 million tax refund to buy luxury assets like a mansion and expensive cars, with sentencing scheduled for November 3.  Fox 5 Atlanta
  • Dashcam footage shows Cobb County police pursued a stolen truck cab in a high-speed chase along Dallas Highway in June, narrowly missing several cars before crashing through a fence near a home, and officers later took the driver into custody with no injuries reported.  Fox 5 Atlanta
