- ➤ Historian Brad Quinlin will speak at four Cobb libraries on his research into African American soldiers in Sherman’s Army starting Wednesday, August 6 at 6 p.m. at Switzer Library—his talk and a traveling exhibit will show how 1,397 soldiers served, with additional sessions planned through November 3. - ➤ Kennesaw City Council will vote Monday on a $1.67 million contract with Marietta-based C.W. Matthews Contracting Co.—the lowest bid—to repair 28 streets, including parts of Duncan, Deerfield and Pinehill Drives.
