CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On Thursday night, multiple law enforcement agencies ended a standoff on Eugenia Place in Austell after a suspect exchanged gunfire during a drug raid; SWAT arrested four individuals and seized drugs, cocaine, marijuana, and firearms—officers were unharmed. Fox 5 Atlanta
- ➤ On July 31, the Marietta-Cobb-Smyrna Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant in Austell and seized 8.55 kg of suspected methamphetamine, 1.7 g of cocaine, five grams of marijuana and four firearms—suspects fled during the raid with one firing multiple shots before returning to his residence and being arrested along with three others. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Kennesaw State launched a new Center for Interactive Media to boost video game design, virtual reality, and digital storytelling — the center will build a digital copy of Georgia to help plan traffic and energy use while creating spaces such as a VR room, game studio, and motion capture room. Led by Assistant Professor Victoria Lagrange, the center will work with experts from campus and industry to bring fresh ideas to digital media. Cobb County Courier

- ➤ Cobb County has opened a new wellness lounge for its 911 operators—designed to give them a quiet space to recharge and support their mental health. Marietta Daily Journal

- ➤ The Georgia Department of Public Health released health inspection scores for Cobb County food service facilities from July 25 to 31. Scores ranged from 56 to 100 for sites including Center Street Tavern and several Marietta establishments such as Wellstar Health System Tower and Church Bistro. Cobb County Courier
