ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ One person died in an overnight crash on I-75 northbound near South Marietta Parkway when two tractor-trailers collided and one truck driver, who had exited his truck, was struck by a passing vehicle that did not stop—police shut down multiple lanes for hours while clearing the scene. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Officers rescued two children from a hot car at Cumberland Mall in June when the inside temperature reached 117° — they were honored on August 12 at the Capitol by Gov. Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp for their quick response. 11Alive
- ➤ The U.S. Secret Service and partner agencies, including Marietta police, began an operation today to inspect 542 businesses—performing 3,408 checks and recovering 41 illegal skimming devices—to stop an estimated $43.7 million in potential losses from EBT fraud. WSB-TV
- ➤ Federal and state law enforcement discovered 41 credit card skimmers at more than 540 metro Atlanta and Columbus businesses during inspections on Aug. 7 and 8—authorities warned shoppers to check ATMs, gas pumps, and card readers and use chip technology to avoid fraud. Fox 5 Atlanta
