ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AAA’s weekly report shows that gasoline prices in Georgia increased by one cent over the past seven days to average $2.91 per gallon for regular unleaded—EV charging rates in the state remained steady at 38 cents per kilowatt-hour while Cobb County gas prices matched the state average. - ➤ A Marietta resident was promoted at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation this week—recognizing their hard work and dedication. Marietta Daily Journal
- ➤ Candidates in six of Cobb's seven municipalities can qualify for city offices from today until Wednesday; Marietta candidates must file for mayor, seven city council seats and seven board of education seats at City Hall on 205 Lawrence Street from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. with filing fees of $756, $567 and $328.68 respectively, while Smyrna is exempt until elections resume in 2027. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health inspectors from the Georgia Department of Public Health released scores for Cobb County food service facilities from August 8—August 14, with many Marietta locations noted in the report.
