- ➤ Marietta hosted its fifth annual International Festival — a celebration of international culture attended by local residents. WSB-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ KSU was named a Military Support College of Distinction—one of only two schools in Georgia with this honor—for its support of military students on its Marietta and Kennesaw campuses, where academic advising and financial aid help keep students on track after its Gold Military Friendly rating in 2024. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Voters in Cobb County will choose municipal leaders on November 4 in races for mayor, city council and school board in six of the county’s seven municipalities — Smyrna will not vote this year. In Marietta, incumbent mayor Steve 'Thunder' Tumlin faces opposition from 24 year old systems engineer Sam Foster as local races heat up. Cobb County Courier
- ➤ Gov. Brian Kemp has appointed a three-person commission to investigate Cobb Superior Court Clerk Connie Taylor following her indictment on felony charges. The panel will hold hearings and report its findings to state officials—its work is expected to guide future accountability measures. Marietta Daily Journal
