COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Suzie Q is a 7-month-old white/tan hound weighing 34 lbs now available for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services on 1060 Al Bishop Drive in Marietta. The shelter prefers appointments for pet visits—walk-ins are accepted when needed.  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • Marietta police investigated damage at the historic Strand Theatre where a hole broke through the box office window—shattering glass and leaving debris—and no one was injured as the investigation continues.  Fox 5 Atlanta

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator Warnock and his team won the CMF Democracy Award for their work helping people after Hurricane Helene caused damage last fall. They told residents about FEMA aid, ran local clinics, and visited farms with President Biden, marking the second time a Cobb County leader received the award.  Cobb County Courier
  • Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta named Cobb County Superior Court Judge Kellie S. Hill the recipient of its 2025 BOLD Award at their Strong, Smart & BOLD Celebration Luncheon—recognizing her leadership, youth advocacy, and more than thirty years of legal experience. Elected in 2020 and re-elected in 2024, she is widely respected for her work on the Excel Restorative Court.  Cobb County Courier
  • The Joanne P. Stratton Library in Marietta will close on Sept. 15 for a $500K renovation that will update study areas, meeting space and furniture and is set to reopen in early 2026. Patrons may pick up holds at the Charles D. Switzer Library — downtown — or use the Sibley Library for computers and programs during the work.  WSB-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Public Health released inspection scores for Cobb County food services and restaurants from August 15 to August 21—scores that include several Marietta sites. The ratings ranged from 39 at Lahore Grill Restaurant to 100 at multiple locations, showing the quality of local food safety.  Cobb County Courier

  • Milo is a male orange tabby/white domestic short hair kitten at Cobb County Animal Services (1060 Al Bishop Drive, Marietta) waiting for a permanent home.
