- ➤ Tunnel to Towers Foundation opened the Atlanta Veterans Village in Cobb to house nearly 90 formerly homeless veterans at a renovated hotel near Six Flags—county officials and Home Depot Foundation volunteers helped furnish the facility. WSB-TV

- ➤ Claire’s has filed for bankruptcy again and will close nearly 300 stores nationwide while 10 Georgia locations will hold closing sales until Sept. 7, including Marietta’s The Avenue West Cobb store — most other locations remain open as the company restructures. 11Alive

- ➤ Marietta police released more details about Tuesday’s fatal shooting at a Chevron gas station at 1200 Franklin Gateway Blvd SE—34-year-old Joshua Walker from Dacula died after an argument with a 24-year-old suspect from Savannah who was later booked on a felony murder charge. - ➤ Marietta History Center joins the annual Dixie Highway Yard Sale and many old signs mark the road that once stretched from Canada to Florida. - ➤ Kennesaw State University is addressing students' parking struggles after many reported being late to class because of congestion.
