  • More than 150 dads and their children gathered Saturday morning in a walk that focused on mental health—building community connection and support.  11Alive

CRIME NEWS

  • Cobb County police are searching for missing man Elmer James Chesser—known as Jim—who was last seen at about 11:30 p.m. Friday near Haddonfield Court in Powder Springs and is six feet tall with gray hair and brown eyes.  WSB-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • West Cobb Regional Library will host its Classifying Animals event on Thursday, September 4 at 11:00 a.m.—designed to help children learn how to group different animals using simple examples.  Cobb County Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Powder Springs residents have until September 7 to submit feedback on a plan to change a busy intersection into an 11-foot roundabout — which will include a 6-foot sidewalk and a 10-foot shared path. City and state transportation officials say the design is expected to cut nearly 70 past crashes and reduce delays, following an August 26 public meeting.  Cobb County Courier
  • U.S. Rep. Barry Loudermilk spoke at the Marietta Business Association meeting this week, promising a new golden era in American business. Activists outside the event challenged his remarks — they expressed strong disapproval during the gathering.  Marietta Daily Journal
  • Electric and hybrid car drivers in Georgia will soon lose access to HOV lanes—an advantage they enjoyed for years that helped ease their commute. The new rule will change travel benefits for drivers statewide.  11Alive
