BUSINESS NEWS

  • A new sandwich shop called Sully's Steamers has opened on Marietta Square at 50 Powder Springs St.—founded by Lauren Balas and her husband, it offers steamed sandwiches that mix deli and bagel flavors. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch with creative items like Meat Chimney and Griswold and will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • Marietta Police arrested a 27-year-old Marietta man last month on charges of Aggravated Involuntary Manslaughter for the fatal fentanyl overdose of Tyler Hass, who was found unresponsive on September 1, 2024 at 1250 Powder Springs St; it is the first case of its kind in Cobb County history.  Cobb County Courier

  • State Rep. John Carson filed a Title IX complaint against Pope High School in Marietta after residents reported that female athletes are limited to one sport while male athletes can participate in multiple sports—he said this mismatch in rules prompts his call for change.  WSB-TV
