  • Today, community members gathered at Parkside Elementary School to celebrate the ribbon cutting of a new all-abilities playground designed for every child—this facility will offer inclusive play for our neighborhood.  11Alive
  • Marietta’s Cobb County Animal Services has featured a black brown/white American Staffordshire terrier named Puppy Uppy as the Courier’s Dog of the Day. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Georgia Symphony Orchestra celebrated 75 years by hosting a season kick-off concert at Reeves House Visual Arts Center in Woodstock where musicians played jazz tunes from legends like Duke Ellington. Based in Marietta and led by Timothy Verville since 2016, the nonprofit runs youth, chorus and jazz programs that bring music to the community—future events will offer more immersive blends of classic and modern sounds.  Cobb County Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Pope High School named its stadium field Matt Hobby Field Friday night to honor a former football player who died of cancer in 2006—marking the 20th anniversary of its annual football fundraiser.
