  • According to AAA’s weekly report, gasoline prices in Georgia increased one cent to $2.91 per gallon for regular unleaded—while EV charging rates held steady at about 38 cents per kilowatt-hour.  Cobb County Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Hundreds of students from across Georgia gathered Monday morning at the College Football Hall of Fame for Georgia Reads Day to celebrate literacy with reading rallies, story time on the field, and a magician’s show—part of efforts following Gov. Brian Kemp’s new literacy legislation and Marietta City Schools’ report of an 11% rise in reading levels since 2022. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Marietta City Schools Board of Education unanimously renewed its school resource officer contract today — the district will pay 70% of salaries, benefits and equipment while the city covers the rest up to $650,000 per year; Marietta council will vote on Oct. 8 to approve the contract.  WSB-TV
  • Cobb County 911 now uses artificial intelligence to help dispatchers train better and respond to emergencies faster.
