  • Cobb County Senior Services and Café Social House will open a new dining option at the Cobb County Senior Wellness Center in Marietta on Friday, October 3 at 11:30 a.m. (located at 1150 Powder Springs Street) and serve lunch weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with rotating meats, sides, vegetarian entrees, sandwiches and salads.  Cobb County Courier

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Multiple East Cobb businesses closed after a Sunday morning fire at a strip shopping center on Roswell Road. Owl Repairs said the electrical fire—triggered by a lithium-ion battery—caused extensive smoke damage to nearby shops including Bookmiser new and used books while no injuries were reported.  Cobb County Courier

CRIME NEWS

  • A church in Austell was nearly destroyed on Tuesday by a fire that investigators say was set by a former member who sent threatening texts and left gas cans behind the building, and church leaders plan to rebuild with help from local officials.  11Alive

  • During October, visitors to the William Root House will see the home decorated for a Victorian funeral event—bringing a unique touch of history to the museum. The display aims to recreate the macabre style of past traditions for guests in Marietta.  Marietta Daily Journal

  • Data released Tuesday shows that SAT scores at Cobb and Marietta City Schools increased significantly this year—indicating improved performance—according to the report.  Marietta Daily Journal

  • Boy Scouts Troop 22 conducted its quarterly Adopt-A-Mile litter cleanup on Cooper Lake Road, removing 12 bags of trash and earning rewards for categories like unusual, largest, grossest, cutest and most litter collected—community volunteer Barry Krebs submitted photos and details that also mentioned help from scout leaders, District 4 City Councilwoman Patricia Auch and the Lions Club.  Cobb County Courier
