- ➤ On October 17, Hosea Helps launched its 54th holiday campaign to serve over 30,000 families before Martin Luther King Jr. Day—offering meal boxes and hot food to seniors, the homeless and families in need. Volunteers at its southwest Atlanta warehouse are preparing to receive food donations—a move supported by a $60,000 donation from Kroger amid rising grocery prices and a government shutdown. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church on October 17 caused minor damage to pews and smoke in the chapel when paper near painting lights ignited—firefighters quickly put out the fire—and no one was hurt. Cobb County Courier

- ➤ Georgia Power will ask state regulators next week for approval to add nearly 10 gigawatts of power (sufficient for new data centers) to the grid to meet future demand. - ➤ On Nov. 5, Glover Park Brewery in Marietta will host a pediatric cancer research benefit from 6–9 p.m. Organizers Jenn Hobby Rivera and Marietta City Schools superintendent Grant Rivera will launch a new Reese’s Fund at the event featuring a silent auction, food, a DJ and kids' activities, along with a symbolic bell ringing to mark triumph over cancer.
