  • Bella is a 10-month-old black/white American pit bull terrier weighing 38 lbs and is now available for adoption at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are preferred, and potential adopters can call (770) 499-4136 for more details.  Cobb County Courier
  • Hire Heroes USA, a Metro Atlanta nonprofit, helps 13,000 veterans and their spouses find jobs each year—Brian Stann said the organization gives veterans new purpose through employment support.  11Alive
  • Silver is an 11-week-old male grey/white domestic short hair kitten at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta available for adoption. The shelter now prefers that potential adopters book an appointment but welcomes walk-ins and will help those arriving for stray or lost pet cases.  Cobb County Courier

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Georgia fell by six cents over the past week to an average of $2.81 per gallon for regular unleaded—AAA said that lower crude oil prices and weak demand are keeping the drop going. In Cobb County, prices were a bit lower at $2.80 and EV charging rates have stayed steady at 36 cents per kWh nationally and 38 cents locally.  Cobb County Courier

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Parents and bus drivers in Cobb are questioning the safety of school buses during National Bus Safety Week as they point to staff shortages and old, poorly maintained buses; the superintendent said the buses are safe but has not shared the investigation findings yet—drivers say some buses are over 20 years old and lack proper air conditioning. This has raised serious worries about student safety in the district.  Cobb County Courier

  • The Georgia Department of Community Health approved Wellstar Health System’s plan for a new 230-bed hospital on Cobb Parkway in Acworth—this project will expand health care options for local residents.  Marietta Daily Journal
  • A Fulton County judge denied on Monday a request to seal settlement terms in a lawsuit involving Cobb Board of Education Vice Chair John Cristadoro—his ruling means the agreement details remain public.  Marietta Daily Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • From October 10 to October 16, 2025, the Georgia Department of Public Health released inspection scores for Cobb County food service facilities—most establishments received perfect scores while a few scored as low as 62.  Cobb County Courier
