- ➤ The Cobb County Board of Education in Marietta authorized Superintendent Chris Ragsdale to spend up to $2 million to purchase eight new Vapor Wake K-9s for the district’s program—an expansion that will boost the school system’s security. Marietta Daily Journal
- ➤ Researchers from the Norman J. Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences recently ran a humanitarian crisis simulation at DEF CON where about 70 participants took roles in responding to a simulated nuclear reactor incident, examining AI's potential to forecast crisis impacts. They plan to adapt the simulation to Poland’s MARIA nuclear reactor and use AI to accelerate design tasks—focusing on ethical and realistic scenario building. Cobb County Courier

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr warned that the opioid-like substance 7-OH, sold at gas stations, is 13 times stronger than morphine and can cause seizures, withdrawal, overdose and death—putting children at risk. He stated that new state laws limit access to kratom and similar products, and law enforcement will act on illegal sales. WSB-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ More than 500 Wellstar Health System team members volunteered in neighborhoods across Georgia on the Day of Service to support food access and healthy living—working at food banks, community gardens, and shelters. They partnered with 25 local organizations to expand support and reach more people in need. Cobb County Courier
- ➤ Kennesaw State University’s AMES Center received the APLU Public Impact Research Award on November 11 for its veteran suicide prevention research that helped lower suicidal thoughts among first responders and service members.
