CRIME NEWS

  • Acworth police and the FBI arrested a 17-year-old student Monday morning after receiving a SnapChat photo with a school shooting threat aimed at North Cobb Christian School on Eagle Drive — the suspect faces a felony charge and remains in custody.  WSB-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. Lucy McBath suspended her exploratory committee to run for governor — she said her husband was recently diagnosed with cancer and she will spend the next few months focusing on his recovery while continuing to serve in Congress.  WSB-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Georgia Department of Public Health released health inspection scores for food service locations in Cobb County—from restaurants to school cafeterias and hotels—covered by inspections conducted from March 21 to March 27. Scores ranged from a low of 65 to multiple perfect 100s, showing varying compliance levels across the sites.  Cobb County Courier
  • Health officials in Georgia have warned that as flu cases drop, measles & whooping cough could pose a growing threat to local health. They continue to monitor the situation and urge residents to follow public health guidelines.  Marietta Daily Journal

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A Bankrate study showed that in January Georgians needed to earn $101,448 a year to buy a home (nearly double the $60,000 required in 2020). The study also reported that the average monthly mortgage payment was $1,948 and the median home sale price was $368,900.  WSB-TV
