- ➤ On May 1, community leaders, donors, and nonprofit partners gathered at The Foxglove in downtown Marietta for Cobb Community Foundation’s second annual Activate Good event—over 200 guests celebrated more than $6.2 million in local grants and scholarships and a record $811,000 raised by the Match Magic Giveathon. - ➤ Chili is a two-year-old black/white Australian cattle dog in shelter at Cobb County Animal Services in Marietta. The shelter prefers that interested adopters schedule appointments online — walk-ins are welcome for pet visits. Cobb County Courier
- ➤ Marietta Arts Council volunteers hung art panels along the M2R Trailfest trail in preparation for the event on May 10th from 9 am to 6 pm, where over 125 art pieces by local artists will brighten Student Gallery and nearby areas. The festival will also feature a pet parade at Lewis Park Dog Park at 10 am, live musical acts, and creative activities at Atherton Park and Alley Stage—events planned to engage community members—while a kids’ craft zone at Sessions Stand Bakery offers art projects for young attendees. - ➤ On May 7, mother Quila Lee, 53, and her daughters, Rakiya Lee, 31, and twins Kamiya and Kalaya Lee, 22, graduated from Georgia State—Quila earned a master’s degree while her daughters received bachelor’s degrees. 11Alive

- ➤ Six Flags White Water in Marietta will open this Saturday, May 10 for weekend visits until May 18, and summer daily operations will begin on May 24.
