  • Cherokee County will hold a funeral procession on Tuesday to honor Claude Levinge, a 103-year-old fighter pilot known as The Captain—his route will start at Woodstock Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. and end at Georgia National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Levinge served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam and even taught astronaut Neil Armstrong while neighbors and first responders line the route to pay their respects.  11Alive
  • The Marietta Pilgrimage Christmas Home Tour returns Dec. 5 to mark its 39th year by showcasing historic homes in the Kennesaw Avenue Neighborhood—offering local residents a view of festive holiday décor that honors Marietta's rich traditions.  Marietta Daily Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • In the 19th and early 20th centuries, people in Cobb County tried to make gold mining work using modern machinery as investors like the Kennesaw Mining Company started operations west of Lost Mountain. Later, New York capitalist Austyn Granville asked Acworth for an electric railway franchise to help mine gold near Acworth, even though a real gold rush never happened—these efforts form a unique part of local history.  Cobb County Courier

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A 2024 report from Cobb Travel & Tourism found that tourism generated a $2.5 billion economic impact in Cobb County—supporting 18,274 jobs and producing $216.3 million in taxes that saved each household an average of $744. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kennesaw State University senior Nahomy Limon from Marietta is interning on Capitol Hill in Senator Warnock's office to assist with healthcare, labor, education, and immigration policies—she was selected among 25 students nationwide for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute program and is funded by the D.C.
